Abingdon & Witney College Early Years students have created educational yet fun ‘Story Sacks’ for local children. They produced their own story and designed props and worksheets to create the story sacks.
These story sacks, that are individually designed and created by the students, promotes emergent literacy and mathematics for children aged 0-7 years old. The story sacks can be altered to meet the needs of all children and to encourage their learning and development whilst simultaneously being fun to use.
The Story sack will be given to the children who Abingdon & Witney College students are doing work experience with and can then be used to assess the children's competencies. The story sacks are a useful resource for students to take to university interviews, as they demonstrate their knowledge on early years learning and showcases their creativity.
“All my level 3 early years students have worked extremely hard during these challenging times with their ongoing project. They have demonstrated full knowledge and understanding on how to promote emergent mathematics and emergent literacy skills by designing and making their own story sacks using their own materials. The students will now demonstrate to staff and hopefully the children they work with how their story sack can be used”
