Apprenticeships have come a long way in a short space of time.
No longer just focused at entry-level positions and in practical trades, there has been a huge growth in the number of higher and degree apprenticeships available. This means that it is now possible to train at senior levels through an apprenticeship route.
For Employers
Higher and degree apprenticeships open another avenue in which to bring in and retain a talented workforce.
For smaller employers, a 90% government contribution towards the cost of apprenticeship training makes higher level training a real possibility even with only a moderate training budget. For levy-paying employers, all the training costs are covered by your levy. What about a management degree for your office manager who wants to take on more responsibility? Or a HND/Higher Apprenticeship for your IT help desk supervisor who wants to increase their technical knowledge?
Surveys show that employees who receive training from their employer are more loyal to their existing employer and are happier and more productive at work. It really is a win-win!
For Apprentices
Whether your employer comes to you with training opportunities or you approach your line manager directly, there are no costs for apprenticeship training for the apprentice.
So that’s no student loan, no debt and a fantastic qualification to help you to progress at work!
We’re not pretending that it won’t be hard work, but with support from your employer, the College, and commitment from you, higher and degree apprenticeships are a no cost solution to developing skills, getting promotions and achieving career goals.
