In September 2021 we were delighted to become one of the first providers in the country to offer T-Level qualifications. One year on, we are celebrating our students' achievements in completing the first year of their course during T-Level week and throughout the summer.
And if you are new to T-Levels - T-Levels are 16 to 19 qualifications, broadly equivalent to three A'Levels, which focus on vocational and technical skills. They can help you into skilled employment, higher study or apprenticeships and they are available to study in a wide range of subjects.
Here at Abingdon & Witney College we currently offer courses in Business & Administration; Digital Production, Design & Development; Education & Childcare; Engineering and Healthcare but we will be adding new courses to the curriculum this September.
After the success of our implementation and delivery of 3 T Levels at Abingdon and Witney College this year we are very excited to expand our T Level offer in the new academic year. From September 2022, we grow our T Level provision from 3 to 5 T Levels. We are offering Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing and Management and Administration in addition to Health, Education and Childcare and Digital Production Design and Development.
Head of Study Programmes, Helen Brown, said: "The introduction of T-Levels has already proved to be a great success with learners and employers. The opportunity for learners to develop their knowledge, skills, and behaviours in both the workplace and in college is a unique opportunity which sets them up for their next steps towards their chosen career, whether continuing to higher education or directly into employment.
T-Level learners have told us that the hands-on experience they receive whilst completing their 315 hour industry placement combined with the class based learning makes all the difference to their learning experience."
These pioneering new qualifications have been designed in collaboration with leading employers to provide the skills that businesses across our region need. The subject areas on offer reflect some of the top business growth areas such as digital skills, health and social care.
T-Levels are unique as they combine classroom study with industry placements so young people gain valuable work experience in their chosen sector. Many local businesses are embracing T-Levels as a great way to bring in new ideas and the latest skills, and a new way to find, nurture and secure young talent.
The 'Get The Jump' content hub on the National Careers website has, in one place, all the education and training choices available to young people who are taking their next step, including further information on T-Levels. Whether you know what you want to do yet or not, knowing your education, training and work choices is a great place to start. Search 'Get the Jump' to find out more or go to our T-Levels page to find your next level here at Abingdon & Witney College.
