For two years running, students and staff from the College’s Agriculture programme have received positive feedback from the Stratford Market report regarding the sale of our lambs.
As a result of their recent performances, we were invited to enter lambs reared at the Common Leys Farm campus into the Christmas Primestock Show and Sale at Stratford Market in early December.
Despite not winning any rosettes, the College did make its best price for market lambs this time around and the students benefitted from direct experience within a livestock market environment, seeing the lambs they have reared from birth being successfully sold on.
Ed Noble, Farm Manager at Common Leys, said:
“This was the first year we’ve entered any of our livestock in a primestock competition and it is great to involve our students in what is such a key part of the rural calendar. It is also lovely to see our sheep which we are very proud of do so well in the marketplace. Roll on next year and hopefully some rosettes!”
