Below is an important annoucement regarding BTEC results.
"Following Ofqual’s announcement that A Level and GCSE students are to receive Centre Assessment Grades, Pearson has today decided to apply Ofqual’s principles for students receiving BTECs this summer. This means that the following BTECs will now be regraded - BTEC Level 3 Nationals, BTEC Level 1/2 Tech Awards, BTEC Level 2 Technicals and BTEC Level 1/2 Firsts. BTEC qualification results have been generally consistent with teacher and learner expectations, but Pearson has become concerned about unfairness in relation to what are now significantly higher outcomes for GCSE and A Levels.
Pearson has asked us to reassure students that no grades will go down as part of this review and to stress that its priority is to ensure fair outcomes for BTEC students in relation to A Levels and GCSEs and that no BTEC student is disadvantaged. Pearson took the decision on 19 August to review all BTEC grades to ensure that no student is disadvantaged. We welcome this outcome as it will ensure that all students achieve the results they deserve but recognise that this will create additional uncertainty for our progressing students.
We have therefore decided that, although we are not yet able to issue individual results, where draft BTEC and final GCSE grades indicate that progressing students have met their offer conditions, we will confirm their offer and progress their enrolment. We very much hope that this will enable students to focus on their future and next steps with us.
UPDATE: 25th August 2020
Pearson have announced that BTEC results issued before Friday 28th August will be regarded as provisional.
Students will be emailed on Friday with their BTEC results, and these will also be posted out.
