Our engineering workshops are where students learn the practical skills that are crucial for all engineering job roles.

Taught exclusively at the Abingdon campus, engineering students have access to three high-quality environments; a huge workshop packed with various lathes and milling machines, an electrical testing workshop, and our recently refurbished Advanced Manufacturing Workshop.

The Advanced Manufacturing Workshop contains a range state-of-the-art tabletop of 3D Printers, desktop CNC machines, a laser-cutter and 3D scanner using dedicated CAD software installed, allowing for the production of prototypes as part of student projects.

In the main workshop, there are plenty of workbenches and other specialist pieces of equipment, including XY2 lathes and milling machines, including 2 HASS, 3 Axis CNC machines, RJH Gryphon grinding pedestals.

Our 4 workshops allow for theory to be taught within an engineering context, without leaving the workshop. In total the workshops have over 30 machines allowing for a range of differentiated tasks. Brought together, these facilities provide ample space for students to safely work, link theory and practice and learn the skills they need to start a successful career in engineering.
