This qualification is an advanced (Level 3) technical qualification, which has been developed collaboratively with employers, professional associations and trade bodies to set the standard and content. It is designed to help you achieve competence in the job role of a beauty massage therapist. The course is timetabled over 3-4 days, which also includes a commercial evening session. You will also be required to attend a work placement one day a week.

This is a vocational qualification including the following units:

• Health and safety in the salon
• Client care and consultation
• History and origins of massage therapies
• Swedish massage
• Stone therapy
• Indian head massage
• Anatomy and physiology for the face and body systems
• Promote and sell products and services
• Contribute to the effective running of a business

Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, and client care.

On completion of this course, you may wish to study the Level 3 Diploma in Make-Up Artistry qualification or the Level 3 Certificate in Fashion and Photographic Make Up qualification. You may want to add to your skills by completing short courses in specialist areas, for example , nail technology, ear piercing, tanning, Gel polish .
Pass at Level 2 Beauty is required, GCSE English or maths at grade 4 or above and a successful interview.
In addition to the main course fees given below there is an additional cost of £220 for kit / clothing and £38 for books. (Costs are given for guidance only.)

Due to COVID-19 we are not currently planning any trips as part of your course. If we are able to organise trips during your course, the cost of these will be communicated to you at the time. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate. Bursaries may also available to cover the cost of some trips.

On completion of this course you will receive the VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Massage Therapies (Technical Certificate)
The majority of the course is practically assessed. You will also be assessed through assignments, workbooks and exams. You will build a portfolio of written and practical evidence during your time studying this programme. All practical and theory units are externally assessed. You will also study GSCE or Functional Skills English and maths to support your entry to employment or further studies. Most practical assessments contain 3-6 observed assessments. As part of your Level 3 qualification, you are required to find and complete work experience hours in a salon or spa. This is for one day per week for a duration of 12 weeks. This commences in September and should be completed by January.
You will learn a variety of skills including interpersonal skills and communication skills. As well as practical skills you will obtain a range of transferable skills including written and oral communication, team working and self-directed learning.
