The focus of this qualification is on the creative industries and future-proof skills, combining the best of art school tradition with an innovative practitioner and industry focus. You will develop transferrable skills, making you a versatile and employable individual whilst learning the importance and application of ethical and sustainable design principles, as well as developing a rich contextual knowledge and understanding of your chosen specialist vocational area and individualised visual language.

This Photography & Visual Culture course will provide you with the knowledge and critical skills to investigate and understand the histories and theories of visual, material, and spatial cultures. This will be an intensive and broad experience as you go beyond the contextual study of art, photography and design. You will explore the power of images to influence critical debates, both historically and in the present day, and develop transferable skills in visual literacy, techniques and composition. As you progress you will acquire critical thinking skills that address the subject areas placed in the wider humanities, and as a component of study in the creative or cultural industries. Over the one or two years of study and practical application of photography and visual culture, you will develop your understanding of the importance and power of the image.
