This exciting course will allow you to develop your media production skills. You will learn how to produce interactive media, live TV, sound, video and digital animations through project-based work. You will also learn how to crew on live shows as part of a backstage production team. You will have access to excellent industry-standard resources including professional HD cameras, edit suites, a radio studio, theatre, TV gallery and the full Adobe Suite software.

All aged 16-18 students have the benefit of following the ‘Futures’ programme which is an innovative approach to curriculum design that ensures our students not only graduate with a high quality vocational qualification but also develop the key transferable skills that employers and higher education institutions demand. Skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, decision-making and enterprise skills are integrated and promoted. In addition, Futures students benefit from work experience, core tutorials, enrichment and skills development and/or qualifications in English and maths.

The course is entirely run through projects. The first of which will see you acquiring and developing various technical skills, through skills-building activities. That will be followed by the opportunity to work in the theatre on the recording of a live TV show, in front of a live studio audience, and develop your practical and teamwork experience by crewing four other live theatre shows over the year. The penultimate project will help you further develop your digital skills in the production of an interactive project, which will be followed by your final major project.

The majority of the course is coursework based with some online assessment. The year will conclude with the Final Major Project in which you will choose and manage the project that you work on, utilising the range of skills that you have developed over the course. By the end of this course you will have developed a broad portfolio of creative work that will help you to progress.
