This exciting practical programme provides students with an interest in Art & Design with the opportunity to develop skills and explore the materials, techniques and processes that support art and design activities, and to begin to develop some related technical skills. This initial experience of Art and Design is intended to provide students with an early test of their commitment and interest in the subject. It also provides an opportunity for them to explore and develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required for progression within Art and Design education.

This one year Diploma course will introduce you to a range of new skills, covering several aspects of art and design. Over the course of the year you will work on exciting, practical projects that develop your skills in observation drawing, two dimensional art and design including printmaking, using Photoshop on the Apple Macs, digital photography and 3d design. Weekly tutorials and visits to exhibitions will support your learning. The final unit of the course will be your opportunity to identify your creative strengths and apply these to a self-directed project of your choosing. As a UAL accredited institution, we have the opportunity to select student Final Major Project work to exhibit in London at the end of the academic year after successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma.

You will also be able to develop your English and maths skills through GCSE re-takes or Functional Skills qualifications.
You will undertake 35 hours of work experience to help you develop your employability skills and progression plans.
