The Level 2 Engineering course can help you take your first steps towards a career in the engineering and manufacturing industry. Through a combination of practical assessments and written assignments, the course provides learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed for a successful career in this fast-paced industry sector.

Using our state-of-the-art facilities, you will learn a range of technical, practical and academic skills in order to prepare you for a career in the industry, an apprenticeship or further study. The course focuses on the core engineering skills and the technical skills valued by employers in the workplace, including; The Engineered World, Investigating an Engineering Product, Mathematics of Engineering and Engineering Design, by studying these units you will be well on your way to becoming a vocationally trained and adaptable individual in this rapidly changing industry.

• Unit 3 Health and Safety in Engineering
• Unit 6 Computer-aided Engineering
• Unit 7 Machining Techniques
• Unit 8 Electronic Circuit Design and Construction
• Unit 9 Interpreting and Using Engineering Information
• Unit 10 Mathematics of Engineering
• Unit 12 Engineering Design
On successful completion of this course you will be able to apply for the BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Engineering, an apprenticeship or seek technician level employment. Progression to the Level 3 course is subject to achieving a merit overall and successfully passing an interview.
4 GCSEs at grade D/3 and above usually including Maths and English or Successful compeltion of the level 1 engineering study programme and Functional Skills level 1 in both maths and english
In addition to the main course fees there is an additional cost of £54 for text books and £50 for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). (Costs are given for guidance only.)

Due to COVID-19 we are not currently planning any trips as part of your course. If we are able to organise trips during your course, the cost of these will be communicated to you at the time. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate. Bursaries may also available to cover the cost of some trips.

Level 2 Extended Cerificate in Engineering.
The course is assessed through assignments and two on-line exams that will challenge your understanding of the content and concepts of engineering. If required you will also study GSCE or Functional Skills English and/or maths to support your entry to employment, apprenticeship or further studies.
As well as the technical and practical skills you will gain a range of transferable skills including written and oral communication, team working, self-management, time management, leadership, self-confidence and self-directed learning.
