This introductory course will give you an insight into both the health and social care and early years sectors, and will enable you to explore the types of roles within each sector. Are you caring and compassionate and interested in a career helping others? Then this is the course for you.

As part of your study programme you will also have the opportunity to attend a work experience placement, take part in enrichment activities and work on your maths and English skills.

The course consists of mandatory units and optional units which include:

• Principles and Values
• Awareness of Protection and Safeguarding
• Communication
• Equality and Inclusion
• Health and Safety
• Person-Centred Support
This course is ideal for developing basic skills in the health and social care and early years, English and maths before progressing on to the Level 2 introduction to Health and Social Care and Early Years (Transition Programme). This course will also provide you with the necessary skills to apply for an apprenticeship.
GCSEs at grade D/3 - G/1 and a successful interview. A clean DBS and reference check is essential.
In addition to the main course fees given below there is an additional cost of £65 for kit / clothing, £25 for a course trip and £25 for books. (Costs are given for guidance only.)

Due to COVID-19 we are not currently planning any trips as part of your course. If we are able to organise trips during your course, the cost of these will be communicated to you at the time. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate. Bursaries may also available to cover the cost of some trips.

On completion of this course you will receive an NCFE/CACHE level 1 Certificate in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings.
The majority of the course assessment is based on coursework.
You will gain the knowledge, understanding and skills that you need to prepare you for employment. Key transferable skills you will learn are communication skills, team working skills, independent study skills, inter-personal skills, organisational skills and time management skills.
