This exciting course at the Abingdon campus will allow you to develop your creative practical skills and teach you the theory alongside the practical units. Students will learn specially designed ‘recipes’ which are unique to Lee Stafford Education, reflecting some of the most cutting-edge styles seen in salons across the UK. This qualification has been specifically designed to enable learners to build on existing knowledge and understanding of hairdressing and develop an enhanced repertoire of technical skills to prepare learners for employment as a senior hairdresser/stylist. Learners will work in, and have their hairdressing skills assessed in a 'real' commercial salon.In the Hair Studio you will have access to excellent industry-standard resources such as Redken. The enrichment side to the course opens more doors for you. Why not learn how to complete spray tans and Gelish, the list goes on. We offer so many different enrichment courses so you can gain lots of information and practical skills whilst you’re studying with us.
These are the typical units you will study over the duration of the course:Cutting Hair: During this unit you will learn how to develop the basic skills you learnt in level 2 to create wonderful haircuts (as mentioned above). For you to be a competent stylist it’s important to have a good knowledge of the basic cuts so you can really progress in this level. We will teach you how to create short hair styles that can either be used on female or male clients. Colouring the hair: Colouring the hair in a creative way is time for you to show people what you can do. Instead of working with your basic techniques you will be learning how create ombre effects, slices, colour correction and block colours. There is theory that goes along side with this practical unit as you need to understand how the colour works within the hair and how to put a colour correct if it goes round. Hair up: This unit is a chance for you to play with hair. You will learn how to create advent guard styles as well as classic bridal looks. Hair extensions: During this unit you will learn a variety of hair extension techniques such as weaves, bonds, glue in’s and how to plait hair in. This is an excellent opportunity to have this skill under your belt.
This course is ideal for developing your skills in hairdressing and English and maths before progressing into a salon. If you feel like you want more training you can look into nails and makeup artistry to gain more qualifications.
5 GCSES at Grade 4 including English or Maths, or a pass in the subject at Level 2 with a Grade 3/Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths.

Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate. On completion of this course you will receive a Level 3 NVQ in Hairdressing.
The majority of the theory work will all be based on an online portfolio. Most units have an exam and course work related to them. Most units have 3-7 assessments related to them. All these will be completed on paying clients in our professional salon.
You will learn a variety of skills including colouring, styling and cutting hair. As well as practical skills you will obtain a range of transferable skills including written and oral communication, team working and self-directed learning.
