It is planned that this course will be running online, using Teams, for the Autumn Term. This may change, depending on Government guidelines.
The French Intermediate course allows participants to describe past and future events with a chronology, to present a place with its facilities, architecture, economy and history, to exchange emails in French on various topics, to use the French web pages for information and conversation, to talk about social transformations and medical developments, to envisage the outcome of current technological developments. Learners will also extend their knowledge of numbers to thousands and millions, and use proportions and percentages. A book will be recommended, magazine articles, audio tracks and videos extracts provided.
Participants will build short narratives with greater confidence, relate events, incidents or accidents, make telephone conversations, arrange a visit to the doctor and explain in detail the reason for this visit, understand a doctor’s or pharmacist’s advice and talk about health issues. They will narrate and give their opinion about how things used to be, contribute to a film review, plan activities for the coming weeks and for the next ten years, explain what kind of actions to take for a removal, discuss the pro & cons of innovations in transport and communications and organize projects. It means for tenses that they will review the present tense, the perfect and the imperfect past tenses, and apply progressively the pluperfect, the conditional and the Future.
Please note there will be no teaching sessions on 26/10/2020, 21/12/2020, 28/12/2020, 15/02/2021, 05/04/2021, 12/04/2021, 03/05/2021 and 31/05/2021
