The course will provide a brief introduction to cake decorating and will provide the skills necessary for students to create their own celebration cakes at home. We will be making a pretty celebration cake decorated with sugar flowers, suitable for birthdays or other celebrations.

We will be decorating a cake with sugar paste icing and learning how to create a smooth finish. We will also learn how to colour sugar paste, how to pipe with royal icing, how to use a bead maker and crimpers and model edible roses and leaves from sugar paste icing. By the end of the course the learner will be able to cover a cake and cake board with icing, colour sugar paste icing, make edible beads or pipe with royal icing, model edible sugar flowers from sugar paste icing including roses and leaves, make lettering from flower paste icing.
