Abingdon CampusThis exciting new course at the Abingdon campus will allow you to develop your creative practical skills and teach you the theory alongside the practical barbering units. We have well established links with the industry and also the Great British Barbering Academy who will provide masterclasses during the course.
Throughout this qualification, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety. They will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to advise and consult, and provide a range of cutting and barbering services specifically for men's hair, which includes shaving and creating facial hair shapes. In parallel, learners will develop their communication and customer service skills, their awareness of environmental sustainability and their commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem solving and research skills will also be developed.

This course is ideal for developing your skills in barbering, English and maths before progressing on to a Level 3 Barbering course. This course will also provide you with the necessary skills to apply for an Apprenticeship or working as a junior in a barbershop.
4 GCSES at Grade 3 including English or Maths, or a Level 1 pass in a related subject plus a Grade 3 in either English or Maths. Both English and Maths must be at least Grade 2/Level 1 Functional Skills.

Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate. VTCT level 2 Diploma in Barbering
The majority of the theory work will all be based on an online portfolio whilst most units have an exam and course work related to them. This is a practical lead course and most units have 3-7 assessments. These will be completed on paying clients. You will also study GSCE or Functional Skills English and maths to support your entry to employment or further studies.
