Organisations vary widely in their nature - private, public, not-for-profit - size and structure. On this course you will study all types of organisations, their management and the changing external environment in which they operate, preparing you for a wide range of different careers. You will have the opportunity to use your work place as a point of reference for assignments.

This course is validated by Oxford Brookes University. Applications are made through UCAS – code 100N.

The course runs for one day per week and across two semesters per year, from September to May. During this time, you will be taught within a range of teaching and learning environments that will include lectures, workshops and seminars. All staff delivering on the course have a minimum qualification level at grade 6 and substantial experience of working within a relevant business sector.

Students can expect to spend a further four additional days outside of their normal timetabled day in order to complete the requirements of a full time programme. The College will ensure you receive those dates prior to commencement of your programme.

You will be supported through group and individual tutorials and our HE upgrade sessions by your course tutor. Students also have access to Brookes Upgrade Service. Although the course is one day per week, it is classed as full-time and therefore there is a substantial amount of self-study required in order to be successful on this programme. You should prepare for between 15 – 21 hours of self-directed study each week on top of your normal attendance at college.

For anyone studying on a course that we offer in partnership with Oxford Brookes University, you are also eligible to apply for accommodation with the University throughout the duration of your studies. Visit www.brookes.ac.uk/studying-at-brookes/accommodation for more information.

The modules on the programme that involve opportunities for work-based learning assessment include:
• Managing Quality and Risk
• Dissertation or Work-based Research Project (Double Module)
• Managing Marketing Activities
• Developing Self and Others
• Strategic Futures, Insight and Design
• Leading and Managing Change
On this course you will develop the skills, understanding and personal attributes required for a career in business sectors such as sales, finance, HR and marketing. Students have also progressed into teaching and social work. The timetable enables students to remain in employment while undertaking the programme.
Students must have completed an appropriate programme to be eligible to apply for the final year, Level 6, entry to the BA (Hons) Business and Management Practice.
These include:

A Foundation Degree in Business and Management Practice awarded by Oxford Brookes University, successfully gaining 240 CATS credits;

OR

A Foundation Degree in Business and Management or related disciplines in Business awarded by another university, successfully gaining 240 CATS credits subject to individual credit rating by Oxford Brookes University;

This will enable you to appreciate the links between theory and practice and to develop your understanding of key business-related issues within a vocational context.
