The internationally-recognised AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualifications enable those working in accounting to gain knowledge, practical experience and that all-important certification.

The Advanced Diploma in Accounting qualification is a potential stepping stone for students into employment, further education or training and may be suited to students studying part time alongside employment, or to those already working in finance. This qualification will also suit those looking to gain the skills required to move into a career in finance as it provides a clear pathway towards a successful career in accounting and finance. On completion, students can progress to take the AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting.

Our AAT courses are intense programmes of study that will enable you to move forward quickly in your career. This course is available in two study options - one option is to attend for one day per week during term time, or a second option is to attend two evenings a week during term time.

• Management Accounting: Costing
• Indirect tax
• Ethics for Accounting
• Spreadsheets for Accounting
The accountancy and finance knowledge developed in this qualification is also the underpinning knowledge needed for the higher level accountancy and financial skills developed in the AAT Advanced and Professional Accounting qualifications:

• AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting
• AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting.
• Oxford Brookes University BSc in Applied Accounting

This qualification produces UCAS points which can lead onto a university course.
Level 2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting or equivalent. Students without formal qualifications but with significant relevant experience are encouraged to apply and will be offered a short interview. A good standard of English and maths is required.

Extra Costs; Students will require text books to support their study within each unit. These are priced at £11.70 for each tutorial book and £7.15 for each workbook directly from Osborne Books (subject to change).

AAT registration is required to sit the examinations. This includes £41 one-off initial registration administration fee and £90 subscription fee (payable yearly). This is paid directly to AAT (subject to change).

The exam fees for a first sitting are included in the tuition fee. However, resits are charged at the relevant AAT exam entry fee plus a £10 Abingdon & Witney College admin fee (subject to change).

Due to COVID-19 we are not currently planning any trips as part of your course. If we are able to organise trips during your course, the cost of these will be communicated to you at the time. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate. Bursaries may also available to cover the cost of some trips.

AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting.
All assessments are computer based and marked externally. During this time you will be taught within a range of teaching and learning environments which will include lectures, workshops and seminars.

Students can expect to spend a further 10-15 hours per week outside of their normal timetabled day in order to complete the requirements of the programme. Please note that the final exam for this course will be held week commencing 12th July 2021
The accountancy skills attained though the successful completion of this qualification will enable a student to seek employment with confidence, and/or to progress to the next level of learning. A student completing this qualification will develop skills including mastery of complex financial processes, including final accounts, reports and returns, spreadsheet use for accountants, VAT returns, and professional ethics.

Students will be able to identify and use relevant understanding, methods and skills to complete tasks and address problems that, while well defined, have a measure of complexity. It includes taking responsibility for initiating and completing tasks and procedures, as well as exercising autonomy and judgement within limited parameters. It also reflects awareness of different perspectives or approaches within an area of study or work.
