Note regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19): Due to the nature of our Online and On Campus courses, with key concepts being taught online through high-quality video lectures, students are able to continue their studies seamlessly with social distancing in place. Some of the regular ‘On Campus’ lessons can be replaced by remote ‘virtual classroom’ sessions led by college tutors. This flexible approach can be easily adapted to suit government guidance and college policies.

This AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Foundation course is an entry-level accounting qualification, ideal for anyone who is seeking an introduction to basic accounting principles and skills.

This flexible course is delivered in partnership with Mindful Education, and combines online learning with face-to-face lessons in the classroom.

Online video lectures are available on demand, and can be viewed from your phone, tablet or computer, meaning you can choose how, when and where you want to study. Each lesson lasts around 45 minutes and is accompanied by animations and motion graphics to bring concepts to life. Exercises, interactive case studies and analytical tools help to enhance the learning experience further.

On campus, you benefit from regular college classes – without having to commit to attending multiple evenings each week. Experienced tutors will discuss and reinforce what you have learnt during your online study and are on hand to provide guidance on progress and assessment. Discussion and debate with classmates will help you apply theories to situations you face in the workplace.

Please note: classroom attendance is fortnightly, on every other Wednesday. Course duration is 10 months.

The internationally recognised AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification enables those working in accounting and to gain knowledge, practical experience and that all-important certification.

This qualification will prepare you for junior and entry level accounting roles. It delivers a solid foundation in finance administration - covering areas such as double entry bookkeeping to basic costing principles and using accounting software. This course is assessed through computer-based exams and a synoptic assessment, which draws on and assesses knowledge and understanding from across the qualification.

The Level 2 course covers a range of key areas, including:

· Bookkeeping Transactions
· Bookkeeping Controls
· Elements of Costing
· Work Effectively in Finance
· Computerised Accounts

Students also develop business communications and lifelong learning skills, applying what they learn on the course to the wider industry context.
On successful completion of this course, you can progress to higher levels of the AAT Accounting Qualification (Level 3 and then on to Level 4).

The skills and knowledge you will gain throughout this qualification will qualify you for roles including Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Credit Control Assistant or Purchase Ledger Clerk.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Previous knowledge of accounting or a Level 1 Bookkeeping qualification would be advantageous but not essential.
In addition to the main course fees given below, there are extra costs involved for the student to consider on top of the course fees.

AAT registration is required to sit the examinations. This includes a £41 one-off initial registration admin fee (where applicable) and a £90 subscription fee (payable yearly). Exam fees for a first sitting are included in the course fee; however, resits are chared at the relevant AAT exam entry rate plus a £10 Abingdon & Witney College admin fee (prices correct at time of printing).
