The beneficial effects of creating and observing art on our health are well-documented. For centuries, people used creativity to deal with stress, cope with trauma and improve self-awareness and self-esteem. The purpose of this programme is to introduce various forms of simple art techniques inspired by some of the famous artists to help us relax while treating ourselves with a ‘wow’ effect creation each week. Each week’s programme also incorporates different art skills to stimulate different parts of our brain—the best brain anti-ageing!
For this programme, you will need different art materials such as paints (acrylic or watercolour paints) -3 or 4 of your favourite colours will be enough and brushes, paper (A4 drawing paper or card), coloured paper (any coloured paper/recycling wrapping paper/cellophane/sugar paper etc), glue and a pair of scissors. If you don't have paints, you can use pastels or colouring pencils. Hopefully most things can be found lying around at home--please do not buy everything! Materials which will be needed for the session will be emailed one week before the session. Please see below for the course programme:- Colour to reflect emotions and peripheral nerve system / Emma Bridgewater style (finger paint /book cover) - Colour and emotional literacy/ Rothko style (brush painting/a wall art) - Brain exercise: tracing the pattern and fine motor skills/Matisse style (shape art/a wall art) - Brain exercise: 3D shapes and fine motor skills/ Origami art (paper folding/ card making) - Deduction skills and visualization/ Home-sweet-home (collage/card making) - Feel good colour and message/ Affirmation poster (paint + cut out letter/card making).
